From the moment pupils walk through our gates, every school interaction, every experience and every learning opportunity is part of the Coltishall curriculum. Our curriculum offers a wide spectrum of knowledge and skills to provide pupils with the tools they need to move on to their next step in education and provide the foundations to become proactive citizens and make a positive impact on themselves and others.
Underpinning our curriculum are The Coltishall School Values and Learning Dispositions. They were chosen through a consultation with parents and pupils. The Coltishall Offer is our commitment to provide activities outside of the National Curriculum that are enriching opportunities and experiences where pupils can thrive and demonstrate their values and learning dispositions.
Our curriculum encompasses local, national and global aspects, with a specific focus each year on a local study in both history and geography. Some units of work link to other subjects, however most subjects are taught discretely and not as a topic. The aim of our curriculum is to provide a progression of skills and knowledge that can be built upon from year to year.

Vocabulary provides a spine to our curriculum. Subject specific technical vocabulary provides progression year on year; key vocabulary is shared with pupils and parents through knowledge organisers. Organisers are shared with pupils and parents at the beginning of each unit of work.
Community links are woven into the daily life of the school, the Norfolk Broads Authority work closely with Year 4 on their local rivers unit, local conservationists help children to coppice hazel, build hurdles and plant trees in the local orchard, the school maintain a local parish allotment, local parents hire the hall for badminton, parents deliver presentations to pupils about their careers, pupils compete in a variety of cluster sports events against cluster school, parents reading champions come in and support pupils and Year 6 pupils lay a wreath and attend the Remembrance readings at the local war memorial.
