At Coltishall, children have opportunities to perform, create, make music and experience arts and culture both in and beyond school.

We want children to discover things they enjoy, develop their talents and experience the confidence that comes from creating something and sharing it with others.

Take the stage

Every child has opportunities to perform for an audience during their time at Coltishall.

These include annual year-group productions, dance, assemblies, musical performances and opportunities to present learning to families and the wider school community.

Make music

Children have opportunities to learn a musical instrument, develop their skills and perform to others.

Those who wish to take their music further can access instrumental tuition and have opportunities to work towards music grades.

Sing and play together

Music is an important part of school life.

Children can join our Choir and Whole-School Orchestra, sing together regularly and take part in larger musical experiences such as Young Voices.

Experience live performance

We want children not only to perform themselves, but also to experience the excitement of seeing and hearing others perform.

Children have opportunities to experience live music, theatre and other forms of performance during their time at Coltishall.

Create and exhibit

Children have opportunities to create artwork and design projects that are made to be seen and shared.

Our pupils exhibit their work for families and the school community, work with a range of materials and processes, and have opportunities such as creating pottery using our school kiln.

Explore culture and heritage

Learning extends beyond the school gates.

Children visit cultural and historic places, experience galleries and heritage, and explore the history and culture of Norwich, Norfolk and beyond.

Discover other cultures

Through experiences including our after-school Culture Club, children have opportunities to discover different cultures, languages, customs and traditions.

We want pupils to be curious about the wider world and interested in lives and experiences beyond their own.
