The Coltishall Offer

More than the National Curriculum

The Coltishall Offer was first launched in September 2018.

For eight years, it has reflected our belief that a great primary education should be about much more than the National Curriculum. As our school has developed, so has the Offer — with new opportunities, experiences and traditions becoming part of life at Coltishall.

The Coltishall Offer is our commitment to make a rich range of experiences and opportunities available to children during their time with us.

It is not a checklist of things every child must complete.

Some opportunities are experienced by everyone. Others are there for children to choose. Some involve putting yourself forward, joining a team, standing for election or taking on a particular role.

What matters is that the opportunities are there.

We want children at Coltishall to have opportunities to perform, create, compete, explore, lead, contribute, take risks, develop independence, discover new interests and feel that they belong.

Our Offer is organised into six areas.

Arts & Culture

Opportunities to perform, make music, create, exhibit and experience the arts, as well as discovering culture, heritage, languages and traditions.

From instruments, orchestra, choir and Young Voices to productions, live performances, exhibitions, our kiln and Culture Club.

Sport & Challenge

Opportunities to be active, compete, represent Coltishall and challenge yourself.

Children can take part in sports clubs, teams, tournaments and competitions, learn to swim, compete in Sports Day and experience physical challenges such as cross-country and the Rainbow Run.

Outdoor Adventure

Opportunities to explore, play, discover nature and experience adventure outdoors.

Our Offer includes Forest School, residentials and sleepovers, outdoor play, our wild area and pond, allotment, wildlife habitats, local environments and adventurous experiences.

Community & Leadership

Opportunities to have a voice, take responsibility, lead and make a difference.

Children can put themselves forward for leadership roles, represent their peers, lead aspects of school life, support others, contribute to charity and community projects and share school life with families.

Life Skills

Opportunities to solve problems, become more independent and develop skills for the wider world.

These include STEM, enterprise, First Aid, Crucial Crew, visiting experts, educational experiences and opportunities to take real responsibility.

Wellbeing

Opportunities to understand yourself, support others and feel that you belong.

Our wellbeing offer includes MyHappyMind, Yoga Club, Breakfast Club, Happiness Heroes, the Happiness Hive, Hamish & Milo, Buddy Groups and our commitment to being a School of Sanctuary.

The Coltishall Offer continues to evolve.

The activities may change as new opportunities become available, but our commitment remains the same: to give children experiences that enrich their primary years and help them grow into confident, curious, responsible and engaged young people.
