Equality Objectives Statement
Coltishall Primary School is committed to ensuring equality of provision throughout the school community. The governing board of Coltishall Primary Schools identified four Equality Objectives on the 30th November 2020.
Objective 1: To train staff on how to respond effectively to prejudice-related bullying
To achieve this objective we plan to: Provide CPD so that staff will feel more confident in responding effectively to prejudice-related bullying.
How are we meeting this target:
2020-2021:
The Equity and Diversity Leader audited the curriculum and resources and found a very good inclusion of BAME, LGBT+ and Female individuals
Achieved ‘Educating With Pride’ Award in 2020 – one of 21 schools in Norfolk
Staff CPD on LGBT+ inclusion
Adapted Behaviour Policy to protect LGBT+ individuals
Objective 2: To narrow the gender gap in maths attainment at the end of KS1
To achieve this objective we plan to: To reduce the gender gap difference, from a three year average of 21% (2019) , to at least 12% within 2 years and to 0% - 6% within 4 years
How are we meeting this target:
2020-2021: Gender gap from teacher assessment 77.8% female pupil working at or above, 64.7 % male pupils working at or above - gender gap reversed for 2020-2021
Objective 3: To have inclusive and accessible recruitment practice for disabled people
To achieve this objective we plan to: Attain Level 2 as a Disability Confident Employer
How are we meeting this target:
2021-2022: Attained Level 1 Disability Confident Committed
Objective 4: Positive gender and ethnic role models that challenge societal norms and increase diversity. To achieve this objective we plan to: Explicitly identifying resources and role models in the school curriculum that provide diversity
How are we meeting this target:
2020-2021: English leader and teacher identified texts which had a female author or had a female lead - this Coltishall Canon provides an overview of the texts.
