Our Curriculum

At Coltishall Primary School, we provide a broad, ambitious and carefully sequenced curriculum designed to give every child the knowledge, skills and experiences they need to succeed.

Our curriculum is built around clear progression. Children revisit and build on important knowledge and concepts as they move through the school, helping them to make connections, deepen their understanding and remember more over time.

We want children to become curious, confident and independent learners. Alongside strong subject knowledge, we place importance on communication, creativity, problem-solving, collaboration and the ability to reflect on learning.

A Broad and Balanced Curriculum

Children study the full range of National Curriculum subjects, alongside Religious Education and our wider personal development provision.

Each subject is carefully planned so that learning develops progressively from the Early Years through to Year 6.

Enriching the Curriculum

Classroom learning is strengthened through visits, visitors, practical experiences, outdoor learning, performances, competitions and opportunities to apply learning in real contexts.

These experiences help children connect what they learn in lessons with the wider world.

Our curriculum is designed to be accessible and ambitious for all pupils.

Teachers use adaptive teaching, appropriate support and carefully chosen resources so that children with different starting points and needs can participate successfully and make progress.

We also provide additional challenge where appropriate, helping pupils deepen their thinking and apply their learning in increasingly sophisticated ways.
