At Coltishall, children have opportunities to develop practical skills, solve problems, become more independent and learn about the wider world.

We want pupils to leave primary school with confidence in themselves and experience of situations that go beyond everyday classroom learning.

Explore real-world STEM

Children have opportunities to experience science, technology, engineering and maths in practical and engaging ways.

These include our annual RAF STEM sessions and other opportunities to work with visiting specialists.

Create, solve and innovate

Children can take part in activities that develop enterprise, creativity and problem-solving.

These include the Year 4 Lions ROAR project and mathematical challenges beyond the classroom.

Learn practical skills

Children have opportunities to develop useful skills for everyday life.

These include First Aid in Years 5 and 6 and other practical experiences that help build confidence and independence.

Stay safe and make good decisions

We help children prepare for increasing independence by giving them opportunities to think about risk, safety and responsible decision-making.

Year 6 pupils take part in Crucial Crew as part of this preparation.

Learn from experts

Children benefit from opportunities to meet people with specialist knowledge and experience.

Visitors, workshops and educational experiences help pupils see how learning connects with the wider world.

Take responsibility

Children develop independence by taking on real responsibilities within school.

Opportunities include becoming a Year 6 Prefect, Happiness Hero, Eco Councillor, School Councillor, House Captain, Vice Captain or Year 5 Librarian, as well as developing independence through residentials and sleepovers.
